Things You Will Never See in an Online Dating Profile
Online dating sites are centered around the dating profile. Users are required to fill out many standard items such as age, gender, height and weight. Many of the online dating profiles are filled with the information required for wouldbe daters to search, browse and match to their interests.
This does not however, guarantee that the person you select for your “online romance” will be exactly as described. The online dating world makes it extremely easy to deceive and mislead people. People can easily become 20 pounds lighter, have blonde hair, be a non-smoker and look much younger in their picture than one would think. In fact, the biggest complaint by those using online dating sites is that people appear completely different than what they have included in their online dating profile.
That sentiment has become the source of inspiration for things that are ommited from an online dating profile and has become our list of Things You Will Never See in an Online Dating Profile.
You will never see an item in an online dating profile called “Sanity”. There will never ben an option that will allow you to choose Sane, Insane or Prefer Not To Say. While many who have tried the world of online dating this should be included as a mandatory field on a user’s profile, it will definitely be a definite killer for business.
You will never see an item in an online dating profile called “Crazy Ex”. This Yes, No option could be enhanced with a Maybe choice, depending on how well the previous breakup went. Nevertheless, online daters will have to wonder if an axe-wielding psychopath lays in wait as wouldbe lovers and first time daters stroll through the park during their first real-life date.
Our next field is one that many men wish were included on a woman’s online dating profile. However the option for “Sex on First Date” doesn’t seem to appear anywhere in the dating sites that we checked. It would be easy to implement for the online sites, with a man’s profile being autofilled with a “Yes” answer that can’t be changed, and missing entirely from the woman’s profile, keeping the mystery intact, and the guy wondering if he’s going to get lucky.
Here at iMingle.ca we have also noticed that the “Live with Parents” option is missing from all the profiles at all the major dating sites. This gives new meaning to going back to his or her place. You get to meet the parents and future inlaws if you can survive the dating world’s theory of relativity.
While most dating sites allow the users to pretty much describe every physical detail, one item is glaringly missing from the physical trait section of the online dating profile. Nowhere could we find the section that would allow us to specify “Number of Teeth”. After reading about several users who discovered their dates had the majority of their teeth missing and no dentures, we thought that we would petition the major online dating sites to have this included. There has been no response.
Last but not least. We searched the online dating world vigourously in an attempt to find where we could check “Booger Friendly”, but alas it was not to be found, not even on the most bizarre sites where people could include all their fetishes. I’m guessing that this wasn’t seen as a winner or a keeper by the major online dating sites.
Even with all these things missing, online dating is and will continue to be popular. Users are reminded however, that it is much easier for people to tell little white lies about themselves in their profiles. Most users do stretch the truth just a little and it is to be expected. Many people have trouble being honest with themselves and people should realize that what is “average” one person, is not necessarily “average” to another.
